Shapell Properties and Liberty Building started works on a new $150m upscale shopping, entertainment, and lifestyle centre in the city of Los Angeles, California, US.
The Vineyards at Porter Ranch will be built as a joint venture (JV) between the companies, which have been long-term partners in developing Porter Ranch.
To be spread over an area of 345,000ft², the Vineyards will house high-end restaurants and retail shops, a Whole Foods Market, along with a medical centre and hotel.

SVA Architects commenced the schematic design phase of Aloha Pacific Center in Kapolei, a city in the US state of Hawaii.
The Aloha Pacific Center is a mixed-use development project being built at a cost of $111.5m.
To be spread over an area of 141,456ft², Aloha Pacific Center is a five-storey Class A office project with high-capacity fibre optic technology and 12ft-14ft ceilings.

The WSP-led team unveiled the design for a new sports and entertainment arena to be built on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Yas Island is a leisure, shopping and entertainment destination that includes a hotel cluster, the Yas Marina F1 circuit, and various theme parks.
The multipurpose Yas Arena that can be used all year round will be developed by a team comprising WSP, HOK, and Pascall and Watson.
Eaton installs advanced LED lighting system at Daily’s Place in Florida
Power management company Eaton stated that its Ephesus LED sports lighting and controls system has been installed at Daily’s Place, a 5,500-person capacity amphitheatre and 94,000ft²-covered flex field adjacent to EverBank Field, in Jacksonville, Florida, US.
This will serve as the indoor practice facility for the National Football League’s (NFL) Jacksonville Jaguars.
Equipped with control functions, the LED system will boost viewing experience for spectators while reducing energy use by about 75%.
Gammon Construction wins £200m water park contract in Hong Kong
Balfour Beatty’s joint venture (JV) Gammon Construction secured a HK$2bn (£200m) contract from Ocean Park to construct a year-round, all-weather water park at Tai Shue Wan in Hong Kong.
The Ocean Park Water World project, which covers an area of more than 693,000ft², includes the main building structure, fit out and installation of indoor and outdoor attractions, and mechanical and electrical services.
Gammon will also be responsible for building services work required to maintain the new park’s specialist systems such as wave generators and a water filtration plant.
Outdoor murals collection completed on Eastridge shopping centre in US
US-based real estate developer Pacific Retail Capital Partners completed work on outdoor murals on a shopping centre in the country.
The 20,000ft² outdoor murals at Eastridge, in San Jose, California, US, feature Californian artists Brendan Monroe, Lila Gemellos, Aaron De La Cruz, and CYRCLE.
Pacific Retail Capital Partners marketing senior vice-president Najla Kayyem said: “The opportunity to partner with four talented muralists to create an unparalleled public art series is very special."
Quintain awards McLaren two contracts for works at Wembley Park, UK
Developer Quintain awarded McLaren with two building contracts, worth more than £90m, at its Wembley Park development in London, UK.
Commenced in 2004, Wembley Park is a five million square feet mixed-use development underway near the National Stadium in the city.
McLaren will now be responsible for new build development on W03 and W06 plots of the park.
Suffolk to manage mixed-use tower construction in New York
US-based builder Suffolk was selected to manage the construction of a new retail, commercial and residential tower at 532 Neptune Avenue in Brooklyn, New York, US.
The new development is part of real estate investment firm Cammeby’s new mixed-use neighbourhood destination, Neptune/Sixth, being constructed at Coney Island and designed by S9 Architecture.
Suffolk will supervise the construction of a 50,000ft² community facility, a 42-storey residential tower, parking, and more than 100,000ft² of retail space.
