The top five companies accounted for 23% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that China Communications Construction Group filed the most 3D printing patents within the construction industry in Q3 2023. The company filed 4 3D printing-related patents in the quarter, compared with 2 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Caterpillar with 3 3D printing patent filings, Technical University of Munich (2 filings), and Sika (2 filings) in Q3 2023.
Patenting activity was driven by China with a 35% share of total patent filings
The largest share of 3D printing related patent filings in the construction industry in Q3 2023 was in China with 35%, followed by the US (16%) and Germany (7%). The share represented by China was 4% higher than the 31% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
