Brookfield Multiplex has started construction on the Crown Towers Perth hotel development in Australia.
The hotel, which is backed by James Packer’s Crown Resorts, will comprise 500 rooms, a resort pool, restaurants, bars, a ballroom, a convention centre and private gaming salons on a riverfront site at Burswood, adjoining the existing Crown Perth Resort.
The new Crown Towers Perth will complement the existing 688-room resort, which houses a casino, restaurants, conference rooms, ballrooms, retail outlets and a theatre.
Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director Chris Palandri said that the start of construction represents a major milestone for both the development of Crown Towers Perth and Perth city as a whole.
"Crown Perth Resort is already a world-class destination and the addition of this new six-star hotel will take the precinct to a whole new level," Palandri said.
Palandri noted that over 1,000 people will be employed directly and indirectly on the project.

By GlobalData"The economic benefits of this significant project are already starting to come on stream," Palandri said.
"It is providing a major boost for the construction industry in Perth, and activity on-site will only ramp-up from here, hitting the peak around mid 2015 when fit-outs commence for facilities and guest rooms."
The Crown Towers Perth development, which is expected to be completed in late 2016, brings the total value of Brookfield’s projects in Western Australia to $3.3bn.
