Gilbane Building Company and Welliver have completed the new $64m Contemporary Art + Design Wing at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, designed by Thomas Phifer and Partners.
Featuring a custom glass facade and skylight system, the museum’s new 100,000ft² wing has an additional 26,000ft² of gallery exhibit space, as well as space for glassblowing demonstrations and live glass design sessions.

The Contemporary Art + Design Wing has a new 500-seat Hot Shop Amphitheater in the Steuben Glass manufacturing facility.
As part of the project, the main access hall from the primary visitor’s entrance on the east elevation of the facility has been re-designed and a 25,000ft² glass roof installed to allow top light to enter the gallery.
