University of Glasgow in Scotland has started construction on its new £16m medical facility.
BAM Construction has initiated enabling work for the project, which will lead to construction of a new clinical imaging centre that can assist in treatments for brain, stroke and cardiovascular diseases.

The development will be named the Imaging Centre of Excellence (ICE) and has received UK Government funding through the Medical Research Council as part of the Glasgow and Clyde Valley city deal.
Planned as a five-storey development, the centre will comprise the first 7 Tesla MRI scanner in the country, which will enable the university scientists to carry out new clinical research.
University of Glasgow expects the development to be completed by the end of next year.
University of Glasgow vice-principal and College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Science head Anna Dominiczak said: "The ICE is a major addition to the University of Glasgow’s expertise in the field of personalised medicine, following the establishment of the £20m University-led Stratified Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre in 2013.
