Real estate developer PortLiving has commissioned Japan-based Shigeru Ban Architects to design a residential high-rise building in Vancouver's Coal Harbour neighbourhood.
PortLiving's founder and CEO Macario Reyes said: "We are extremely excited by Shigeru Ban's decision to bring his craft to the Pacific Northwest, where we expect he will be embraced for his environmentally-sustainable approach, creative integration of outdoor living, and his leadership in innovation."

The height of the building has not yet been announced, but a rendering depicts a glass-coverd tower with a sloped roof.
The upper part of the tower will feature a timber frame, which will be supported by a steel and concrete core, reported Dezeen.com.
A curved apartment tower will then be located adjacent to Terrace House. This curved apartment is being designed by architect Kengo Kuma.
Terrace House will be the Japanese firm's first project in Canada. Wood for the building will be procured from British Columbia.
