Skanska has secured a £142m contract from Consolidated Developments to construct the St Giles Circus development in the West End of London, UK.

Skanska is expected to include the deal in its order bookings for Europe in the third quarter of this fiscal year.

The project will combine entertainment, retail and leisure spaces, commercial offices and residential accommodation across four new buildings and a number of existing buildings.

Skanska will be required to retain some of the site's heritage elements such as façades as part of the arrangement. The company is also set to refurbish listed buildings, including some that date back to 1666.

The firm is combining its skills in design, piling and foundations, temporary works and construction to deliver the project, as well as its expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering.

"The project will combine entertainment, retail and leisure spaces, commercial offices and residential accommodation across four new buildings and a number of existing buildings."

Work under the contract has commenced and is expected to be completed during the first quarter of 2020.
