The project features reinstating 93km of road, broadening the road by over a 10km section ahead of Dabou, and enhancing the drainage and wastewater network to decrease the risk of flooding.

The wells drilled as part of the project will eventually be joined to the public water system that caters to the town of Toupah in the Dabou department.

Lasting for 15 months, the €97m worth project will involve on average 450 people, 50% of whom will be employed from the local region, Vinci stated.

Reinstating this road will improve safety and decrease traffic congestion between these two port cities, as San Pedro prepares to become the host of Africa Cup of Nations next year.

Sogea-Satom has been operating in Côte d’Ivoire for several years.

It is involved in upgrading the fishing port in Abidjan, improving the drinking water distribution system in Abidjan, constructing the Songon and Saint Viateur drinking water treatment plants, building a road linking Bouaké and Ferkessédougou.

It is also constructing Yamoussoukro stadium where the Africa Cup of Nations games will be held.

Last week, Vinci Construction, via its earthworks subsidiary, was selected to construct the Springbank Off-Stream Reservoir, situated 15km west of Calgary, Canada.

The subsidiary will build the reservoir on behalf of Canadian province of Alberta.

This project will help protect residents of Calgary and its nearby areas by re-routing and temporarily storing water from the Elbow River during peak volume events to prevent flooding.

The €263m (C$379 m) worth project is expected to complete in three years.

This project features a regulation structure on the Elbow River, a 29m high earthen dam stretching around 3.8km, and a 4.3km diversion channel.
