This building will support the multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC) production.

The four-storey building will be constructed at 106-163, 2 Jiwari, Goto, Wagacho, Kitakami-shi, Iwate.

With electric vehicles growing in popularity, electronic components such as MLCCs are required to be dependable, have a high resistance to rapid temperature variations, mechanical strength, and high voltages.

Since last year, TDK has been boosting production volume at its existing MLCC production sites and affiliate companies.

The new production building will allow TDK to have comprehensive production, covering right from materials to finished products.

The improved production will allow TDK to meet increasing demand from customers.

The factory will be built with a layout to cut down energy loss. The exhaust heat and air environment will also be boosted to achieve energy conservation and contribute to CO2 emission reduction.

The construction of the new production building at the Kitakami Factory is the second project that is a part of TDK’s electronic component enhancement, after the recently announced construction of a new wing at the Inakura Factory (West site).

The mass production will commence from September 2024.
