Kier has been appointed as the only contractor to all 12 lots of Manchester Airports Group’s (MAG) £700m Capital Works framework.

This contract will initially be for five years, with the option to have it extended by another three years.

The framework is divided into three areas – Civil Construction Works, New Build and Fit Out Construction Works, and Refurbishment Works.

The three areas are then divided into 12 lots, depending on value bands and location.

Focused on delivering sustainable growth across MAG, the framework is designed to balance the needs of the customers, passengers, employees and communities.

This contract is one of several that have been recently awarded by MAG, which owns and operates Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports.

All these three airports will have access to Kiers framework over the initial period.

Kier Construction group managing director Liam Cummins said: “We look forward to being part of this framework, which, along with other aviation projects coming to market, will undoubtedly be critical in helping the aviation industry and the UK’s post-covid recovery.

“Aviation continues to be a key area of focus for us and being appointed to all Lots on the MAG framework will facilitate our growth in the sector.

“Collaborative working between our Infrastructure and Construction business streams allows us to provide a unique range of skills and expertise to this framework, including our vast experience of working in the sector and in highly regulated areas.”

MAG group capital delivery director Rob Stewart said: “We’re pleased to have appointed Kier as one of our capital works framework partners across the Group over the next five years, because they will be key to successful project delivery.

“We have an ambitious pipeline of projects aimed at ensuring our airports continue to operate efficiently and safely for all of our passengers, colleagues and business partners, as well as helping our business to deliver on its commitment to sustainable growth.”
