Peab has been commissioned to construct 139 rental apartments and a garage in Kvarngärdet in Uppsala Municipality of Sweden.

The rental apartments will be built for Rikshem.

This contract is valued at SEK230m ($25.14m).

The project, called Lärjungen, is a turnkey contract with 139 rental apartments and a connecting three story parking garage.

These apartments will be one to four rooms besides kitchen.

Some apartments will feature two levels with a bedroom on the mezzanine.

The property will comprise three apartment buildings with an inner courtyard for residents to take up shared activities.

Peab region manager Louise Strömbäck said: “We’re very happy to have been entrusted with building Kvarngärdet. Being able to contribute to new housing in an expanding city borough and participating in community building is important.”

Rikshem in Uppsala head of real estate Linda Forsell said: “Together with Peab we’re going to build apartments that will be a welcome addition to Kvarngärdet in Uppsala and I look forward to this collaboration. This project is created for modern living and provides the opportunity to live with an exciting floor plan through a bedroom on the mezzanine.”

Construction will commence this month, with occupation planned for Q4 2024.

The project will be order registered by Peab in Q4 2021.
