Viking Malt has laid foundation stone for its new malt production plant in Lahti, with plans to commence its operations in 2023.
The €90m project will have an annual production capacity of around 85,000t.

The plant is located at Pippo-Kujala industrial area.
Viking Malt, which is more than 130 years old, stated that its key to success has been due to focus on quality and innovation and new technology, and the new plant will be a continuation of this tradition.
The new plant will feature the latest technology to increase efficiency and become more environmentally friendly.
It will also enable Viking Malt to produce a variety of new products on top of the current selection.

Representatives from Construction Consultant Afry, Viking Malt and the Mayor of Lahti, Pekka Timonen were present at the ceremony.
Viking Malt sells its products globally to the food, beverage and brewing industries. It has production in five countries: Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania and two plants in Poland.
Viking Malt Group is owned by Polttimo with 62.5% stake and Svenska Lantmännen with 37.5% interest.
