Finnish construction company YIT has secured contract worth $44.7m (€37m) to construct a school and day care centre complex in south Nummela, Vihti.
To be built using the life-cycle model, the project spanning nearly 8,600m2 will include construction of ten-day care centres and a three-class primary school.
It will include Swedish-language early childhood education and care facilities as well as a Swedish-language school.
The construction company will be responsible for the design, planning and construction, as well as maintenance and cleaning and the maintenance of outdoor areas of the project for 20 years.
Vihti Mayor Erkki Eerola said: “The school and daycare centre complex is a significant investment for the municipality. We believe it will offer Vihti’s children an excellent Finnish and Swedish-language learning environment. The complex is also an investment in future development and the growth of Vihti.”
