St. Mark’s Hospital has commenced construction work on a new five-storey patient tower in Millcreek, Utah, US to expand its patient capacity.
The new 125,000ft2 tower will allow the hospital to expand some of its key services such as orthopaedic service line and cardiac service line.
The project, which entails an investment of nearly $140m, will offer new and refurbished space to the 150-year-old facility.
It will include increased patient room size, a new emergency room and more overhaul for existing patient rooms.
Hospital CEO Jeremy Bradshaw stated that nearly 80% of its admissions at the hospital are for the emergency room. The expansion project will help meet the increasing demand for emergency room.
The new building will also include waiting areas for families and additional workspace for staff to work as well as a new emergency room entrance.
