
Swedish construction company Peab has secured a contract worth $29.8m (SEK254m) to rebuild a wastewater treatment plant in Henriksdal, Sweden.
The contract was awarded by Stockholm Vatten och Avfall, which has been managing the wastewater treatment plant that includes a new wastewater tunnel running from Bromma to the Sickla plant in Hammarbybacken.
It also includes a new plant in Sickla and reconstruction of existing basins in Henriksdal.
Under the contract, Peab will be responsible for rebuilding before installing a new and improved biological treatment process at the plant.
The work on the project also includes four aeration basins and four post-sedimentation basins.
The construction company stated that the work on the facility will be performed in the underground plant in Henrikdalsberget and the facility will be operational.

Peab region manager Carl Johan Söderberg said: “It feels incredibly inspiring as a community builder to be part of making Stockholm’s future wastewater treatment more efficient.
“This is a project that contributes to improving a public utility and providing Stockholm’s residents with better conditions for sustainability and the environment.”
Recently, the company was awarded a NOK100m ($11.8m) contract by Leangentravets Eiendom to build a new racetrack facility at Fannrem in Orklands Municipality in Trøndelag.
As per the contract, Peab was responsible for constructing a 4-metre-wide safety track, a 4-metre-wide ditch and a 10-metre warmup track connecting the new racetrack facility.
Work also includes groundwork, roads, walkways and horse paths, fencing, lighting, plumbing and infrastructure.
