The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has started construction of its first avid branded hotel in Canada.
Located in Vaughan, a suburb of Toronto, the hotel will offer 119 rooms across six floors. The new avid hotel, owned by PI Cap, is just minutes from Toronto Pearson International Airport.
Guests of the hotel will have easy access to neighbouring Brampton, Etobicoke and Bolton. The hotel is located at a convenient location and has many area shopping centres and restaurants nearby.
The purpose-built hotel brand, launched in 2017, offers guests a superior stay, a grab-and-go, complimentary breakfast and seamless technology. It has now more than 200 new properties signed since its launch.
“There are more than a dozen avid hotels now open and welcoming guests, including the first property in Mexico, and 90 properties under construction or with plans approved for construction across Canada, the United States and Mexico,” IHG said.
IHG avid hotels and Atwell Suites vice president Karen Gilbride said: “On behalf of IHG and our thousands of colleagues, I congratulate PI Cap on this milestone for the avid hotels brand in Canada.

By GlobalData“There are great things on the horizon as travellers continue to visit newly opened hotels and discover the avid hotels’ experience, which is all about the basics done exceptionally well and delivered at a fair price.
“We believe this mainstream brand will continue to resonate strongly with hotel owners due to the lower cost to build, efficient staffing model and overall operating economics in the current environment and for years to come.”
The hotel is expected to open by spring 2022.
