September 2021 has seen an increase of 8.03% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 2.06% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 55.98% in September 2021, a 14.7% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.77% in September 2021, marking a 10.46% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.27% in September 2021, a 44.77% drop from August 2021.

Top five consumer companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 1.46% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s consumer industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Carrier Global posted 85 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 107.32% over the previous month, followed by Hallmark Cards with 33 jobs and a 32% growth. JBS with 32 IT jobs and PepsiCo with 27 jobs, recorded a 33.33% drop and a 40% drop, respectively, while Reckitt Benckiser Group recorded a 44.68% decline with 26 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s consumer industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s consumer industry IT hiring activity with a 93.87% share in September 2021, a 24.19% decrease over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 3.22% share, down 28.89% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 2.91% share, a drop of 44.23% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 55.08%, down by 33.58% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 26.03% share, registered a decline of 13.95% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 17.79% share, down 8.76% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.11%, recording a month-on-month growth of 22.22%.
