Peab has secured a contract worth $14.6m to construct a new museum for Hurtigruten in Stokmarknes in the northern part of Norway.
The Nordic community builder will deliver the project for its customer Vernebygg.

On 16 June 1999, Hurtigruten Museum in Stokmarknes began housing an old ship, called MS Finnmark. Peab now has been commissioned to accommodate this ship in the new building, which will become one of the attractions for the new Hurtigruten Museum.
Peab region manager Gro Skaar Knutsen said: “This is a wonderful project for us. We spent a lot of time on our proposal and we’re really pleased that the developer chose us to do the job. We look forward to getting started.”
The structure around the MS Finnmark will cover 3,600m². The building will mostly feature glass and steel.
Gro Skaar Knutsen added: “We will restore and build on the existing buildings when we house the ship so that the entire Hurtigruten Museum will be new and modern.”

By GlobalDataPeab will begin construction in April 2019, with occupation slated for April 2020.
The project will be booked by the company in the fourth quarter of 2018.
Earlier this week, Peab was also commissioned to construct a health care centre in Hamnvik in Norway.
Ibestad Municipality awarded this contract worth $14.04m.
This project involves the development of a new nursing home for 16 patients and two senior living facilities with six units each.
Construction will commence in April 2019. Occupation of the nursing home is slated for mid-2020, with the senior living into the facility scheduled for autumn 2021.
The contract will be booked in the fourth quarter of 2018.
