St Mary’s Wharf, designed by Squire & Partners and landscape architect Gillespies, will transform a prominent brownfield site into a residential and public space.

It will feature two distinct buildings, a riverside walkway and an acre of new public gardens, along with dining and retail spaces.

Bennett Construction managing director Mark Keyes said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Native Land on the delivery of St Mary’s Wharf, a significant regeneration project that will make an important contribution to Guildford town centre and its riverside.

“This appointment reflects Bennett Construction’s strong track record in delivering high-quality, complex residential developments. We look forward to working collaboratively with Native Land and the wider project team to bring their vision for St Mary’s Wharf to life, delivering an exceptional development with quality, safety and programme performance at the heart of our approach.”

Native Land secured planning consent for the project in 2022 and has since progressed with demolition and infrastructure works including flood protection.

The development is a key investment in Guildford, aiming to revitalise the area by enhancing public access to the river and boosting the town centre economy.

The project’s low-carbon design incorporates biodiversity improvements, a fossil-fuel-free energy strategy and extensive cycling facilities to encourage reduced car usage.

Native Land plans to launch sales in spring 2027, with project completion anticipated by the end of 2028. The combination of central location, river frontage and quality accommodation is expected to attract downsizers, young professionals and families.

Bennett Construction’s involvement brings its experience in residential and mixed-use projects to the Guildford’s development.
