Following its recent A86 tunnel contract in Paris, France, Marioff has been awarded another tunnel contract for the Madrid M30 ring road, in Spain. Five tunnel sections of the M30 motorway project, as well as the main and auxiliary command centres, are being equipped with Marioff’s HI-FOG active fire protection system.
The HI-FOG system uses patented high-pressure nozzles, which spray very fine droplets of water over uniformly sized tunnel lengths. Three predetermined sectors with an innovative HI-FOG hybrid system design will be activated in order to cover a sufficient area around the seat of a fire. The fine water droplets are said to rapidly absorb heat, reducing the amount of smoke produced by a fire, thereby limiting the development of its heat release rate.
