Saint-Gobain Pipelines has won a $5M contract to supply 3000 tonnes of 30mm thick SG Iron tunnel linings to the Costain/Skanska/Bachy JV for use in the construction of cross passages on the UK’s Channel Tunnel Rail Link Section 2. The 3.5m – 4.5m diameter passages will link the 4.7km long, 7.1m diameter twin-tube tunnels on contract 240, between Stratford Box and Barrington Road. Manufacture and distribution of the linings is scheduled for the end of this year.
