Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd (KHI) has joined forces with Stork RMO of Amsterdam to consolidate its capabilities in the design, manufacture, erection and servicing of TBMs. This follows withdrawal from the tunnelling industry of Kvaerner Markham, with whom KHI had had a licensing agreement. Kvaerner Markham was to promote KHI’s soft ground TBM technology in Europe. (Oct ’99, p15)
