Hong Kong’s Cross-Harbour Tunnel Company saw profit rise by 18% last year to US$23m compared with 1998, despite a significant drop in revenue. The company said turnover, mainly from vehicle tolls and advertising, fell 29% to US$77m. The tunnel opened in 1972 and was Hong Kong’s first privately financed transport infrastructure project.
