Vinci Construction France, architect Moatti et Riviere and design office Ginger Sechaud Bossuyt’s joint venture (JV) has secured a €25m design-build contract to transform the first storey of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
As per the contract, which covers an area of 4,586m2, the JV will reconstruct the Eiffel and Ferrié pavilions and the three lift-access buildings, as well as refurbish the façades of the restaurant, according to theconstructionindex.co.uk.

In addition, part of the flooring will be replaced with a glass floor in the outside areas and equipped with a glass guard rail to give visitors a sensation of floating in the air.
The project also incorporates sustainable features that include rainwater harvesting, LED lighting and the use of renewable energy sources.
The project work is expected to commence in 2012 and take 18 months to complete.
