The joint venture (JV) of infrastructure company AECOM Hunt and construction company Barton Malow has been appointed as the construction manager for the Jacksonville Jaguars’ new ‘Stadium of the Future’ in Florida, US, following a unanimous National Football League (NFL) vote of approval.
The project, which began this February, is set to open in August 2028 and will deliver a ‘state-of-the-art’ development for the team and fans.
Construction efforts have included the structural demolition of a skybridge and two escalator towers, as well as three light towers, site demolition for underground utilities and the current plaza situated outside the stadium.
The JV team is also laying foundations for a new roof and concourse expansion alongside relocating and establishing new services regarding water, electricity, and fibre.
The project aims to provide a venue that can accommodate NFL games and Super Bowls, as well as concerts and other major events.
Once complete, the stadium will offer a canopy that will lower heat retention by over 70%, expanded capacity from 63,000 to 73,000 people, lookout decks, and lighting and digital technology for event experiences.
