Reading Borough Council has given its approval to redevelopment plans for Broad Street Mall, which is considered a significant town centre regeneration project in Reading, UK.
The project is a collaborative effort between developer McLaren Living and AEW, a real-estate investment and asset manager.
The redevelopment of Broad Street Mall will transform the southern part of the 4.6-acre site into a mixed-use neighbourhood.
It will feature 643 tenure-blind build-to-rent homes, both at market rate and affordable, and approximately 19,000ft² of commercial space, including retail and leisure facilities.
The project aims to revitalise the area with public art and an array of improvements to the existing shopping centre such as an extension to the National Health Service Walk-In Centre.
Positioned to the south of Broad Street Mall, the four new residential buildings will form a link between the Hexagon and the Minster, integrating with the broader Minster Quarter master plan, which is also being developed by McLaren Living in collaboration with Reading Borough Council.
