UK-based construction and property services company Willmott Dixon has secured a contract from property developer Cubex to build a £63m residential scheme at Finzels Reach in Bristol.

The residential scheme will feature 297 apartments across two buildings constructed at the former site of Avon Fire and Rescue headquarters.

Out of the two buildings, the largest will be Millwrights Place, a 14-storey building constructed to provide 231 private rental apartments through a forward funding deal with Grainger.

The other building, called Coopers Court, will provide 66 apartments in a ten-storey building through a deal with Yarlington Housing Association.

Out of the 66 apartments, 18 are allocated for shared ownership category, while 48 will be affordable.

The two schemes will have a mix of both one- and two-bedroom homes, along with courtyard bike stores, roof terraces, a brown roof and undercroft parking.

The buildings will be connected to Bristol’s district heating network.

Concrete frame structure will used in the construction of the buildings, which will also feature brick slips, Euroclad Vieo, and Sinusoidal metal cladding.

Willmott Dixon Wales and West region managing director Neal Stephens said: “We are delighted to once again have the opportunity to work alongside Cubex. As well as providing much needed high-quality housing for the people of Bristol, using our specialist local supply chain, the project will provide further stimulus to the local economy as the UK recovers from the coronavirus pandemic.”

The scheme’s enabling work will start this month, while the main contract works will begin by mid-February. The apartments are expected to be delivered by the summer of 2023.

For the fourth time, Cubex has chosen Willmott Dixon to deliver a construction scheme in Bristol.
