
Webuild and its consortium partners have secured an approximately €490m contract to construct Lot 4 section connecting Cluj-Napoca and Episcopia Bihor railway line in Romania.
Lot 4 is the Aleşd section near the Hungarian border.

This contract will become effective once all the tender procedures have been completed.
With a 50% stake, Webuild leads the consortium, in which Pizzarotti and Salcef own 30% and 20% interests, respectively.
The construction is expected to create about 1,000 direct and indirect jobs.
Lot 4 involves the design, construction, modernisation, and electrification of about 50km of the current railway, including five stations at Tilegad, Osorhei, East Oradea, Oradea, and Episcopia Bihor in Romania’s northwest region, near the Hungary border.

By GlobalDataAwarded by CFR, the national railway company of Romania, the rail project will be funded by European Union through Romania’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP).
Lot 4 is a part of the wider programme to modernise and electrify over 166km of the Cluj-Napoca-Oradea-Episcopia Bihor railway line.
In Romania, Webuild is involved in developing over 120km of metro and rail lines, and over 90km of roads and highways.
With the new contract, the value of Webuild’s new orders acquired this year have touched €10.7bn.
These orders include projects where Webuild is chosen preferred bidder, and on variations of existing orders.
