Seymour Whyte, an Australian subsidiary of VINCI Construction, has secured three contracts totalling €431m (A$773m) across Queensland and New South Wales in the country.

In the Gold Coast, Seymour Whyte will undertake the construction of a 4.4km segment of the Coomera Connector Stage 1 South.

The project, commissioned by the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, aims to enhance connectivity between Logan City and the Gold Coast.

It will serve as an alternative to the M1 Pacific Motorway, aiming to reduce traffic congestion and accommodate population growth.

The €229m project will include earthworks, rock excavation, ground improvements, and the construction of three bridges, one of which will span approximately 300m across the Nerang River.

Additional features will include new intersection interchanges and noise barriers.

In Moreton Bay, meanwhile, Seymour Whyte will upgrade a 1.1km road and construct a 212m flood-resistant bridge over the North Pine River. The project, valued at €48m, is commissioned by City of Moreton Bay Council.

Located 30km north of Brisbane, the project is scheduled to commence in 2025 and is expected to conclude in 2027.

The project will feature retaining walls, a new signalised intersection, noise barriers, and upgrades to sewer and water mains.

In Sydney, Seymour Whyte has been awarded a €154m contract by Transport for New South Wales for the M5 Motorway Westbound Upgrade.

Scheduled to begin in 2026, the project will involve upgrading a 1.3km road, constructing a three-lane bridge, and enhancing connections between Moorebank Avenue and the motorway.

It will also include a two-lane exit lane from the M5 Motorway to the Hume Highway.

The upgrade is expected to improve the transport gateway to south-west Sydney, supporting economic and residential growth while enhancing pedestrian and cyclist connectivity.

Earlier in 2024, the VINCI Group reported total revenue of €1.4bn in Australia, with €1.2bn attributed to VINCI Construction, and €114m each for VINCI Energies and Cobra IS.
