Canam Steel Corporation (CSC), a US-based manufacturer of custom-engineered steel building product solutions, has acquired Vescom International, a developer of a composite floor system for multistorey structures.

Currently rebranded as Vescom Floor System, this product line will be integrated into CSC’s newly formed Building Solutions group.

Originally developed in 1982, the floor system has been implemented in hundreds of projects throughout North America.

It is designed to cater to residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, including student housing, medical facilities, and high-rise apartments and condominiums.

CSC CEO Brad Lazorka said: “Adding the Vescom Floor System to our portfolio strengthens our ability to provide versatile, high-performance solutions for complex, multistorey projects.

“We’re excited to offer a product that has long been trusted in the industry and carry it forward with the engineering excellence, reliability, and customer-first mindset that CSC is known for.”

The Vescom Floor System incorporates custom-fabricated steel joists and decking with site-applied mesh and concrete.

Its design features an inverted top chord that is claimed to form a mechanical bond with the concrete slab.

This system eliminates the need for shoring or temporary forms, positioning it as one of the most effective floor systems on the market, stated CSC.

The acquisition also marks the launch of CSC’s Building Solutions team, dedicated to supporting multi-residential construction projects.

Led by sales manager Rick Armando, the team will not only offer the system but also the Reveal [Dovetail] Floor System and standard deck options for multi-residential construction.

CSC operates six manufacturing facilities across the US, with in-house engineering, fabrication, and project management teams.
