Veidekke has secured a contract from OBOS Nye Hjem to construct the Vollebekk Torgkvartal housing cooperative at Vollebekk in eastern Oslo.

This project will feature 153 environmentally certified apartments, five shared apartments, a kindergarten, commercial premises and underground parking.

This is the sixth construction stage of the major project, and the design and build contract is worth valued at NOK505m, without including VAT.

Veidekke Bygg Oslo head of department Kaare Gilhus said: “We are very pleased to continue building at Vollebekk. OBOS has a culture that is a good fit with our own, and with one of Oslo’s best housing teams in place, I’m confident that this project will also be successful. We would once again therefore like to thank OBOS for the confidence they have in us and that we can take part in building an attractive residential environment at Vollebekk.”

It will be built as a fossil-free construction project, and the homes will be certified as per the BREEAM-NOR Very Good environmental standard.

The apartments will be constructed in a block ranging from four to eight storeys around a common courtyard with a playground.
