Veidekke has been commissioned to construct a multipurpose facility, Bjarg Arena, in Bergen, Norway, for the Bjarg Sports Club.

The turnkey contract, valued at Nkr116m ($11.3m) excluding VAT, involves building a 5,000m² facility.

Veidekke Bygg Bergen district manager Thor Småbrekke said: “We are very grateful to have won the competition to build the arena.”

Bjarg Arena will feature a handball hall with 230 spectator seats, a basketball hall, an activity hall, a gym, running tracks, and more.

Additional facilities will include locker rooms, club rooms, and a cafeteria.

The arena aims to accommodate various sports and activities, including gymnastics, martial arts, and general fitness.

Construction is set to begin immediately, with completion expected by the start of the school year in late 2026.

The contract will be part of Veidekke’s order book for the third quarter of 2025.

Veidekke is among the largest contractors in Scandinavia. The company engages in a wide range of building and civil engineering projects.

It generates an annual revenue of around Nkr41bn, with about 50% of its 8,000 employees holding shares in the company.

Recently, Veidekke secured a contract for the Kobberkvartalet housing project in Asker, Norway, for Nkr488m. The project includes 142 apartments alongside common areas and a garage basement.

This June, Veidekke was awarded a contract for the second stage of the Poulssons Kvarter residential project in Bærum, Norway, valued at over Nkr140m.
