Renfrewshire councillors have approved the appointment of Kier Construction Limited as contractor to deliver £23m main works programme to transform A-listed Paisley Museum into a top cultural destination in the UK.
Now final talks will take place in order to formally appoint Kier in April.

This will lead to work commencing on site in early summer with construction likely to finish by late 2022, and reopening to the public expected in 2023.
This represents a milestone in the £42m redevelopment of the museum.
The museum transformation project is considered a significant aspect of Paisley’s economic recovery from lockdown in terms of the on-site activity during the construction phase and the increased footfall after museum reopens to the public.

Following the re-opening, Paisley Museum is expected to attract 128,000 visitors annually from Scotland, the UK and overseas and provide a £79m economic boost to the area over the next three decades.

Kier has worked on several heritage construction projects throughout the UK and currently helping to deliver the refurbishment of The Burrell Collection in Glasgow.
