A consortium led by Strabag, together with TKT Engineering, has secured the contract to build Roma Tower, a 170m residential skyscraper planned for central Warsaw, Poland.

The contract, valued at approximately €200m ($224m), will see the development of 357 apartments in the luxury segment, positioning Roma Tower among the tallest residential structures in the city.

Work on the project is expected to take 50 months to complete.

Located at the intersection of Nowogrodzka and Emilia Plater streets, the forthcoming high-rise will feature architectural designs by Juvenes-Projekt.

Italy-based design and architecture company Pininfarina is also participating in the project.

Once completed, Roma Tower is set to offer residents extensive leisure and recreational facilities along with views over the Warsaw cityscape.

Roma Tower is understood to be the first residential development in Poland to receive Fitwel certification, a standard awarded for buildings that support occupant health and well-being. The project also aims to attain BREEAM certification.

It is being developed for a consortium consisting of BBI Development, Pro Bonum Foundation, Liebrecht & wooD and AKIPIA.

The building will comprise 48 above-ground floors and six underground levels.

Strabag South + East segment management board member Péter Glöckler said: “With Roma Tower, we are undertaking our largest commercial building construction project in Poland to date and are helping to shape Warsaw’s skyline in the process.

“Following Upper One, Roma Tower is already our second major high-rise project in the Polish capital, giving us another opportunity to demonstrate our extensive expertise in high-rise construction.”

Strabag is also nearing completion of another high-rise project nearby, Upper One, which is designed as an office and hotel complex, and is scheduled for full completion in 2027. The office portion of Upper One has received LEED Platinum precertification.

Earlier this month, Strabag secured a €152m ($170m) contract for the initial construction phase of the new central emergency department at Klinik Favoriten hospital in Vienna, Austria.
