Ed Züblin, a subsidiary of Strabag Group, and its consortium partner Dobler Metallbau have received a contract to deliver a new office tower for Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen (Helaba) in Frankfurt, Germany.
Under the general contractor agreement, the consortium will build a 205m-tall ‘central business tower’.
Featuring 52 floors above and five below ground including a five-storey base building, the project is expected to be fully completed by early 2028.
It will be constructed on the site of existing buildings at Neue Mainzer Straße.
These existing buildings will begin to be demolished this month.
The new tower will be built near the twin towers of Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank Tower and Helaba’s headquarters.

Designed by KSP Engel, it will be a ‘slender’ office tower with a double, stepped building structure.
The first four floors of the double tower and the base buildings are intended for public use and will feature restaurants, a barista café and a Museum of World Cultures’ branch, among others.
Helaba plans to lease floors five to 52 of the high-rise complex.
Züblin’s turnkey construction business unit (Stuttgart subdivision) will be responsible for all technical and commercial aspects of the project.
Stuttgart’s structural engineering business unit, the Mitte subdivision of Züblin Spezialtiefbau and Zentrale Technik, will undertake a whole range of services for the project’s building construction and civil engineering works.
The work of the tower’s façade will be carried out by the Dobler Metallbau team.
Strabag said that the Züblin teams already provided advice and support for the project’s pre-construction design to Helaba in July 2020.
The new building is planned to open for the first tenants at the end of 2027.

Strabag CEO Thomas Birtel said: “The ‘central business tower’ will create attractive office workspace in a prime location of a growing city.”
