Established in 1953, Crofton Engineering focuses on structural steelwork, architectural metalwork and fire training infrastructure.

The company provides fabrication, design and installation of steel structures and metal fabrications for a variety of regional and international clients.

The transaction forms part of Strabag UK’s expansion efforts aimed at enhancing its capabilities in these areas.

Strabag anticipates the acquisition will bring additional expertise in delivering complete solutions for fire training buildings and training towers.

Following the acquisition, Crofton Engineering will continue to operate from its location in Linton, retaining both its trading name and senior management team to ensure continuity.

Strabag UK has stated that the integration of Crofton Engineering will add specialist expertise in providing full turnkey solutions for fire training buildings and training towers.

Strabag UK Build Subdivision managing director (technical) Ian Burford said: “This acquisition is part of our growth strategy and allows us to leverage our global-local model, combining Strabag’s broad resources and expertise with Crofton’s deep knowledge and wealth of experience in steel fabrication, installation and specialist applications. We look forward to the team at Crofton joining us at this exciting time for Strabag in the UK.”

Strabag plans to sustain Crofton Engineering’s existing platform by supporting the business’ current strengths and operational approach. The company will maintain its established emphasis on health and safety, quality workmanship and flexible delivery in its ongoing projects.

In June last year, Strabag completed the acquisition of WTE Wassertechnik, an environmental services provider that plans, finances, builds and operates water supply, wastewater treatment, sewage sludge processing and energy recovery projects.
