Real estate company SRV has signed an agreement with Finnish association Föreningen Konstsamfundet to build a €30m entertainment centre in Helsinki.
Planned to be built in Lasipalatsi Square in the Kamppi district, the new entertainment centre, called Kulttuurikasarmi, is slated for completion in 2023.

SRV and Föreningen Konstsamfundet plan to jointly invest in the project, which involves a basic renovation of Helsinki’s former bus station and an extension of the existing building.
The building was originally used by Turku Barracks as a service building. It was burned down during the 1918 Civil War.
The underground area of the existing building will be expanded with a new section.
The project will see the construction of a glass pavilion facing Narinkka Square.

By GlobalDataWhile the design and planning for the project are underway, construction and renovation work is planned to commence later this year.
The building will comprise one underground floor, two overground floors and an attic, with renovated and restored façades.
Sarc Architects will undertake the architectural design of the basic renovation for the building, which will have a final total volume of 20,800m³ and an area of 4,400m².
SRV will be responsible for the project construction.
SRV Helsinki metropolitan area business premises senior-vice president Jouni Forsman said: “Kulttuurikasarmi in downtown Helsinki will be built right next door to one of our previous projects, the Kamppi Centre, and will combine our expertise in basic renovation and urban development in an excellent and broad-minded manner.
“We’ll be carrying out the basic renovation of a building of cultural-historical value with respect for its origins.”
The Kulttuurikasarmi centre will feature three new screens for BioRex Cinemas, a large indoor event space complete with terraces, and the glass pavilion and a variety of restaurants and bars.
The firms will also build an event stage in Lasipalatsi Square for performances and open-air concerts.
