Swedish construction company Skanska has secured contracts worth several millions of dollars in the US and the UK.

One of the contracts, worth $360m, requires the company to upgrade an arts and entertainment facility in the western US.

Construction work on the facility will commence in January next year, with completion planned in late 2024.

The company has also signed a $59m contract to construct a new data facility in eastern US.

Both the contracts will be included in the company’s US order bookings for the fourth quarter of this year.

Work on the new data facility is planned to start in February next year and is expected to be completed in January 2023.

Meanwhile, VIRTUS awarded a contract to the Swedish construction company to construct a new data centre in London’s metro, UK.

This contract, worth $70.2m (£53m), will be included in Skanska’s European order bookings for the fourth quarter of this year.

The company’s scope of work under the contract includes the design and construction of the new data centre, named LONDON11.

It also includes construction of external steelwork plant gantries, plant rooms for mechanical and electrical and public health services (MEPH) as well as all MEPH infrastructure services across the project site and office fit out.

Additionally, Skanska will also be responsible for the construction and fit out of six new data halls.

Construction work on the data centre is scheduled to commence this month, with completion slated during Spring 2023.

Recently, Skanska announced $38.2m (SEK350m) investment in a sustainable office project in Malmö, Sweden.

Located on Universitetsholmen in central Malmö, the new office building, named Oas, will have seven floors with about 7,500m2 of leasable area.
