Skanska stated that the deal is part of the Troll West electrification project, which includes full electrification of Troll C and partial electrification of the Troll B platform in the North Sea.

Additionally, the contract includes onshore cables, establishment of a ditch and culvert from the substation to a landfall at Kollsnes.

The company noted that the landfall will be drilled from shore into the sea and prepared for laying offshore cables. The project is scheduled to be delivered in December 2022.

Recently, Skanska also secured a $36.9m (SEK310m) contract from Svenska kraftnät to construct underground cable systems in southern Stockholm, Sweden.

The scope of work includes the construction of two complete underground cable systems – around 5.7km-long – between Skanstull and a new substation in Snösätra and between Snösätra and Högdalen.
The project is aimed at strengthening the electricity grid in the area.

Construction work on the project is expected to commence in May this year and complete in April 2023.
