Swedish construction firm Skanska has secured a contract worth €190m from the Oulu University Hospital to construct a new hospital building in Oulu, Finland.

Under the contract, Skanska will construct the new building, replacing the outdated hospital buildings that were established in the 1970s.

The new hospital will comprise buildings A and B that will form a single, ten-floor building, which is estimated to entail an investment of €375m.

With a total area of about 59,000m², the building will have emergency rooms, intensive care units, operating rooms, delivery wards and support functions.

The B building is planned to be executed by a consortium comprising Caverion Suomi, Skanska Talonrakennus and Siemens Osakeyhtiö with Tierna group, including A-lnsinöörit, arkkitehtitoimisto Tähti-Set, Lukkaroinen Arkkitehdit, UKI Arkkitehdit and Granlund.

Skanska is serving as the main contractor of the B building, which is scheduled for completion in phases by the end of 2023.
Additionally, Caverion will provide technical solutions, safety and communications technology and design management for the B alliance.
