Skanska has signed a contract with the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, US, to renovate and expand a historic building.

The contract, worth $67m, (SEK640m), will be included by Skanska in its US order bookings for the second quarter of this year.

Work is set to start in May 2023 and is anticipated to complete by March 2025.

The 6,100m2 renovation will include new offices, open engineering research labs, classrooms, biology and chemistry teaching labs, and collaboration spaces.

The around 13,400m2 addition will include an open-bay chemistry research labs with chemical storage, material support, and facility service spaces.

This project will enable the university to widen basic science education as the current building is unable to support the requirements of advanced academic research.

Last month, Skanska signed a contract with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation to redevelop a British Army vehicle storage and maintenance facility located in the West of England, UK.

The contract, worth $326.65m (£259m), will be reported by the company in its order bookings for Europe for the second quarter of this year.

Work for this project will commence in the third quarter of 2022, with an aim to complete it before the end of 2026.

Skanska will undertake construction as well as mechanical and electrical engineering services for the new storage buildings, workshops and an office.

This project involves demolishing 58 buildings, constructing 12 new buildings, and renovating one present facility.

It also includes the renewal of site-wide infrastructure.
