Skanska has secured a contract from Comal Independent School District (ISD) to build a new middle school in Bulverde, Texas, US.

The $57m (SEK550m) contract will be included by the construction company in its US order bookings for the second quarter of this year.

Under the terms of the contract, the company is responsible for the construction of a new middle school complex, sports field, water detention basin, water storage tank, and associated driveways and utilities within the 40-acre land.

Comal Middle School #8, the new 15,800m2 middle school, will accommodate 1,100 students in Comal ISD and offer relief to nearby schools witnessing continued enrollment increase.

Work is set to start this September and expected to complete in September next year.

Last month, Skanska received a contract with the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, US, to renovate and expand a historic building.

The contract, worth $67m, (SEK640m), is included by Skanska in its US order bookings for the second quarter of this year.

Work is set to start in May 2023 and anticipated to complete by March 2025.

The 6,100m2 renovation will include new offices, open engineering research labs, classrooms, biology and chemistry teaching labs, and collaboration spaces.

The around 13,400m2 addition will include an open-bay chemistry research labs with chemical storage, material support, and facility service spaces.

This project will enable the university to widen basic science education as the current building is unable to support the requirements of advanced academic research.
