Sir Robert McAlpine has broken ground on the £120m Phase 2 of Station Hill in Reading, UK.

Lincoln MGT, which is a joint venture between Lincoln Property Company and MGT Investment Management, had appointed Sir Robert McAlpine as the construction contractor for the second phase in December 2021.

This second phase is part of the £750m Station Hill scheme.

The second phase will feature 275,000ft2 One Station Hill office block of 18 storeys, a new public square and a link bridge giving access for commuters from the train station to the town centre.

The construction of Phase 2 is seen as a major milestone in the regeneration of Reading.

This phase is expected to be completed in early 2024.

JRL Migard, which has been appointed as contractor for constructing the first phase, is currently completing it before the end of next year.

The first phase will see construction of a new 600-home community.

Following completion of the scheme, Station Hill will feature up to 625,000ft2 of offices, 1,300 homes, and 95,000ft2 of retail and leisure space, and two-acre piazza.
