Select Property Group has submitted a planning application for a new build-to-rent residential development in Manchester city centre, UK.

Located on the corner of Great Ancoats Street and Port Street, the new development will include a 34-storey tower and will deliver 485 new homes.

Work on the project is to transform an underutilised site, which is now being used as a surface car park, into a new residential community.

Designed by architecture firm SimpsonHaugh, the development will also include an 11-storey podium block that will be constructed beside the main tower at the surface car park site.

The development will include a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments along with amenities that include co-working spaces, gym for residents, cinema rooms, and large hub spaces with lounge areas.

Select Property Group CEO Adam Price said: “We are delighted to have reached this major milestone.

Working with a very talented local design team, we have taken our time to shape these proposals and ensure we deliver an ambitious yet sensitive scheme which makes a positive contribution to the city.

“This development will provide exceptional quality new homes in a sustainable city centre location, with our new residents adding further energy to this thriving part of Manchester.”

Subject to receipt of planning consent, construction work on the project is expected to commence in summer this year.

Upon completion, the residential community will be managed and operated by Select Property Group’s wholly owned subsidiary Affinity Living.

Last month, Tilbury Douglas commenced refurbishment work on the first phase of a project to restore and reopen historic Old Library in Oldham, Greater Manchester.
