Saint-Gobain has plans to invest $100m in the next two to three years to expand its building products subsidiary CertainTeed’s roofing shingle manufacturing facility in Peachtree City, Georgia, US.

The extension of the Peachtree City facility will see an addition of more than 65,000ft2 of manufacturing and warehouse space.

This investment plan comes only months after Saint-Gobain announced its global Grow and Impact strategy, which includes expanding its presence in important markets.

Sustainability will be the focus of the expansion project through advancements in manufacturing equipment and building design.

These enhancements will enable a 14% reduction in CO2 emissions per production unit besides cut down in water and energy consumption.

The project will be backed by $5m in local and state tax incentives realised over the next ten years.
