Rudolph and Sletten, a subsidiary of construction company Tutor Perini, has secured a design-build contract for the Veterans Skilled Nursing and Memory Care facility in California for the California Department of General Services (DGS).

The contract, worth $269m, was awarded by the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet).

The new 240-bed skilled nursing facility will be built at CalVet’s historic Yountville Veterans Home of California (VHC-Yountville) in Napa Valley.

VHC-Yountville is claimed to be the oldest and largest veterans’ home in California. It provides long-term care to nearly 1,000 aged or disabled veterans as well as support for residents with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injuries.

Tutor Perini stated that the new facility will replace and combine three existing facilities on the 615-acre campus.

The 300,000ft2 facility will feature main and satellite kitchens, dining rooms, a pharmacy, laundry facilities, exam rooms, nurse stations, resident outdoor spaces, parking, roadways and other site improvements.

San Juan Custom House is a Spanish Colonial Revival style building and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
