Rudolph and Sletten, a subsidiary of construction company Tutor Perini, has commenced construction of a new $152m courthouse in Santa Rosa, California.

Located in the Sonoma County Administration Centre campus, north of downtown Santa Rosa, the new criminal courthouse is for the Judicial Council of California.

It will replace the existing courthouse and provide a modern, secure facility with consolidated court services for the region.

The new 15-courtroom, six-story building with 169,147 building gross ft2 (BGSF) will create operational efficiencies and ongoing savings by consolidating court and mediation services.

It will also include surface parking for about 450 cars along with 20 enclosed secure parking spaces.

The new courthouse will provide centralised traffic, criminal, and juvenile dependency proceedings for the county.

Rudolph and Sletten stated that the facility will also feature in-custody holding, a children’s waiting room, jury assembly and deliberation rooms, attorney interview/witness waiting rooms, as well as security entrance screening for all court users.

Construction work on the project is expected to be completed in July 2023.

In May this year, Rudolph and Sletten was awarded a design-build contract worth $269m for the Veterans Skilled Nursing and Memory Care facility in California for the California Department of General Services (DGS).

The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) awarded the contract to build the new 240-bed skilled nursing facility at its historic Yountville Veterans Home of California (VHC-Yountville) in Napa Valley.

The 300,000ft2 facility will include a pharmacy, nurse stations, dining rooms, main and satellite kitchens, laundry facilities, exam rooms, resident outdoor spaces, parking, roadways and other site improvements.
