UK-based contractor RFM has secured a contract from global student accommodation provider GSA to carry out refurbishment works at Arran House in Edinburgh.

Under the deal, RFM will be responsible for creating six new en-suite bedrooms with a communal kitchen and a brand new social space, which will be used by the full seven-storey apartment building located near the University of Edinburgh.

For the design and refurbishment project, GSA has appointed RFM as the main contractor, who will be working on the project with employer’s agent Broadfield Project Management, architects Fletcher Joseph, engineers Etive Consulting, building service engineers Calford Seadon and principle designer Thomson Gray.

“The finished outcome will greatly enhance the current accommodation facilities at Arran House.”

The £500,000 refurbishment project is expected to begin by the end of this month and the scope of the project includes alterations to the current floor plan, partitioning, plastering, ceilings, mechanical and electrical works.

The project will also see the installation of furniture, kitchens and bathroom pods, as well as full decoration works.

RFM Group contracts manager Mark Flanagan said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for RFM Group and the finished outcome will greatly enhance the current accommodation facilities at Arran House.
