The Australian government has awarded a $3M research grant to a team from Terratec Asia Pacific and Brisbane based Co-operative Research Centre for Mining Equipment and Technology to develop a new small sized (up to 50mm diameter) oscillating disc cutter capable of cutting granite of 250MPa and above. A matching grant will also be awarded by the Australian Mineral Industries Research Association. The concept has been developed by design engineer David Sugden in collaboration with the Centre for Mineral Technology and Equipment.
