Manchester-based property developer Renaker has been awarded full planning consent for its £741m high-rise scheme, Trinity Islands.

The permission was granted by Manchester City Council following the submission of plans for the housing development two months ago.

Designed by SimpsonHaugh, the Trinity Islands scheme consists of four residential towers, ranging from 39 to 60 storeys in height and providing 1,950 new homes including three-bedroom family flats.

The towers use a diamond-shaped plan and each of the four skyscrapers would host residential amenities, such as farmer’s markets, retail units and educational facilities, spaces for social interaction, creativity and events and more.

It is located within the Castlefield Conservation Area in Manchester city centre and situated close to the proposed neighbourhood, St John’s, and Deansgate and Spinningfields districts.

In a statement posted on LinkedIn, Renaker said: “We look forward to delivering these new, iconic buildings, as well as new homes and facilities of the highest quality for residents, and for the wider community.”

The scheme’s landscape designer and planning consultant are TPM Landscape and Deloitte, respectively.

The Trinity Islands site was bought by Renaker from original developers Allied London in 2018.

The project is expected to generate 4,000 jobs in the construction stage, according to the council.

Manchester Council leader Bev Craig said: “Trinity Islands is a significant investment in our city, which is testament to the confidence developers continue to have in Manchester, despite the ongoing economic challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.”
